Coupons, credits and store balance: how they differ

Payments · Published October 24, 2026 · 1 min read · By TMGuide

Coupons, credits and balances can look alike on screen, but they often work differently.

Coupons

Usually apply a discount to an order if conditions are met, such as a minimum spend, certain items, or an expiry date. If a coupon does not apply, read its conditions.

Credits

Typically an amount added to your account that can reduce the price of a future order. Credits may have an expiry date and may not cover every item.

Balance from refunds

Some refunds can be returned as account balance instead of to your card. The refund details on the order page say where the money goes.

Practical tips

  • Screenshot the checkout summary before you pay.
  • Check expiry dates in your account.
  • If a discount vanished at checkout, look at the conditions before contacting support.
